I have a fascination with roosters.  Not sure if this facination came from my younger years of watching my grandfather raise Fighting Gamecocks. It could also be that my husband's alma mater has a mascot who closely resembles one of my grandfather's gamecocks.  One this is for sure, I love painting roosters. Until I discovered cows.

This is Mary's cow.  10"x10" acrylic on wood panel...NFS

Gregory's Sir Big -  7"x7" water color

Commissioned piece for a graduating University of South Carolina student.

I painted this rooster a day before I had to deliver it.  Needless to say I think it was a combination of the deadline and watching the USC Gamescocks play that inspired me to paint Sir Big.  Love my Gamecocks!

Red Rooster

My family and I are big South Carolina Gamecock fans.  On April 2, 2012 I decided to paint my version of a Carolina Gamecock. 5"x9" watercolor.  This piece will be auctioned off at an art show fundraising on April 27, 2012.

Walk with me

"Walk with me"  24x36 acrylic on canvas

"Walk with me"  a fun project to do with a group of children. Lay out the canvas in the middle of a room.   Surround the canvas with trays filled with different colored paint, we used acrylic for this piece.  The children simply steps into the paint and walk on the canvas.

Finger painting

Finger painting can be a young child's favorite "creative" activity.  Give a child a blank sheet of paper, some paint and a whole new world opens up.  The sight, the smell and the texture can ignite a child's imagination.  Most finger paintings  are exploratory and experimentation.  An  older person looking at a child's finger painting may see only swirls and lines, but to the child he  sees an elephant or a mountain range.    Finger painting in a controlled environment (not free art) can produce some very surprising results.

"Spring"  is a piece finger painted by eleven 3yr. olds  The children were instructed to use their fingers only.  No palming was allowed.  Working on a group piece eventually takes a life of its own.  The painting initially started out abstract with green paint and then evolved into a work of art with an impressionistic feel.

Up up and away

Creating these hot air balloons with young children is  fun and easy.  The best part of the project is the child's smile when they see themselves riding in the hot air balloon.  The children paint brown Chinese take-out boxes using scraping motion to create the wicker look.  Instead of paper, you can use colored card stock for the balloon. I  used card stock with different colors and patterns for this project .  I  photographed the children holding a block.  I cut out the image of the children, posted it on Popsicle sticks and secured it inside the box.

My website is now live!  Come and see my new journey.
